FREE BRIDGE

            Free Bridge was located in the general area of Field’s Ferry, probably on the Coosawattee River.  It appears on Georgia maps as early as 1855 and no longer appears after the Civil War.  If  the name Free Bridge does indicate a bridge, as seems likely, then it is probably the one over the Coosawattee on Owens Gin Road near Field’s Ferry.  No other information on Free Bridge has been found.
